FREE EYE TESTING, OKAVANGO DELTA REGION OF BOTSWANA
Mapula Camp and Meno A Kwena, two unique camps which we at Bushtracks Africa offer as suggested destinations in Botswana, recently collaborated with various organizations to sponsor a humanitarian road trip which offered free eye testing and glasses for those in need.
The road trip saw a team travel over 1025km through various villages surrounding the Okavango Delta. They tested 4211 children and several adults, and provided approximately 154 free pairs of glasses.
Natural Selection also arranged for environmental education material and school supplies such as pens, pencils and notebooks to be distributed at Eretsha Village Primary School. This outreach works in conjunction with the Natural Selection Elephant Express, which assists pupils getting to school safely through a known elephant corridor.
Without the support of tourism in the region, organizations would not able to fund such projects or provide donations to those who rely on them. Remember that when you vacation at some of these beautiful destinations and enjoy your African Safari, you are helping a child get to school and back safely, or see the world a little clearer.
