LUFTHANSA TO FLY INTO ZIMBABWE BY MARCH


Eurowings Discover, a Lufthansa Group subsidiary, has stepped up plans to fly into Victoria Falls, with the first trip scheduled for March 30 this year.


The new leisure long-haul airline will travel via Windhoek, Namibia, three times a week. Eurowings Discover has been flying into Windhoek since September. The German airline is headquartered in Frankfurt and is rapidly expanding. It is predicted they will have a fleet of 10 A320s and 11 A330s by mid-2022.


Victoria Falls will be the airline's fifth African destination as it looks to grow its influence in the continent. The recent upgrade of the Victoria Falls International Airport ensures a stylish welcome. Andre Schult, the general manager of the Lufthansa Group for Africa, stated "Our next project is Victoria Falls and 30 March will be a big day. We are happy that Eurowings Discovery will start flying via Windhoek and we are very optimistic and positive regarding the booking outlook."


Not only will the route assist Victoria Falls, but the world’s largest Trans-Frontier Conservation Area; the Kavango Zambezi Trans-Frontier Conservation Area, which spans Zimbabwe, Zambia, Namibia, Botswana and Angola. Victoria Falls is known as Africa's adventure capital. As well as offering access to the waterfall which is a natural world wonder and UNESCO World Heritage Site it is a hub for wildlife safaris into the rest of Zimbabwe and to Zambia, Botswana and Namibia. The renowned national parks of Chobe (Botswana) and Hwange (Zimbabwe) are within a two-hour drive from the falls.
