The Zambezi River is classified as a high volume; pool-drop river i.e. there is little exposed rock either in the rapids or the pools below the rapids.  The distance between rapids varies from 100 meters to 2 km’s.  The river drops about 400ft over the 24km covered in the one-day raft trip and the depth of the river can reach 200ft.

 

Make your choice from a range of trips:

FULL day: (Covers rapids #1-#19). Low water Season (Approx. Aug to late Dec)

              (Covers rapids #11-#24). High water Season (Approx. Jan to July)

Half Day trips available on request during Low water season, for groups and private trips.             

 

Multi Day Trips: Low water only (Late August – early December)

Follow the rigors of the Mighty Zambezi as you raft down the river, with each day bringing new challenges in the rapids you encounter. Spend nights by the sandy river banks under the stars and enjoy the scenery which comes with the Batoka Gorge.

General information:

  • Minimum 1 pax - Maximum is 100

  • Private exclusive trips – minimum of 20 guests (on request)                                                                                     

  • River Boarding trips – minimum of 2 guests.   

  • Minimum age is 15 years – there is no child rate.  Proof may be requested

  • There is no maximum age limit

  • The Operator retains the right to refuse to take any client who is clearly going to be unable to cope with the rigors of rafting.

  • Contact lenses may wash out, so guest wear them at own risk.

  • Clients are advised not take any valuables with them on the river.

  • Rafting is suitable for most clients. The ability to swim is not essential; however non-swimmers should inform the Trip Leader at the briefing.

  • Price excludes park fees payable direct

  • If water Levels get too high rafting is closed

Walk In / Walk Out:

The walk in and out of the gorge is steep and rocky. The walk-out is the equivalent of climbing a 70-story building.  Clients will carry their buoyancy aids and helmets.  Porters carry all other rafting equipment.  There are plenty of places to rest on the way up and there is a refreshment stop at the halfway point.  At the top of the gorge, cold soft drinks, water and beers are available.

Check-In time is 07h00:

  • Low water full day rafting (return to Vic Falls approx. 14h30)

  • High water half day rafting (return to Vic Falls approx. 14h00)

Excursion Includes:

  • Return transfers from major hotels/lodges within Victoria Falls town centre.

  • Transfers to and from the gorges.

  • Rafting equipment including helmet and buoyancy aid

  • Buffet lunch, minerals and beers at end of the day trip.

  • All meals and drinks on the multi-day trips.

  • Certificate to prove you braved the Zambezi.

  • Video footage of your entire trip is professionally recorded and available for viewing and purchasing.

  • High quality professional digital photographs are taken during the trip and available for viewing and purchase as well. They are shown with the video in town, (venue to be confirmed by the guides).

  • Additional clothes left for safe keeping will be collected at the top of the gorge at the end of the days rafting
